Hosanna: blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD

The Palm Sunday crowds greet Jesus with words from Psalm 118, a pilgrim psalm sung at Passover: 'Hosanna' (Save us) and 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD'. The gospels report this.

When Jesus drives traders from the temple courts he combines two prophetic texts: Isaiah's promise that the temple would be a house of prayer for all nations, and Jeremiah's charge that it had become a den of robbers.
