The kingdom torn from Saul and from Solomon

Samuel tells Saul that the LORD has torn the kingdom from him and given it to a neighbor better than he. Later the prophet Ahijah tears a cloak into twelve pieces to tell Jeroboam that God will tear ten tribes from Solomon's son. The kingdom divides after Solomon's death, when Rehoboam answers the people harshly.
